Don't Rush to Bash Iran

Kaveh L. Afrasiabi, Author | February 24, 2009

The IAEA caused fury when it revealed that it had underestimated the percentage of enriched uranium in Iran. ++ Exaggerated Western media reports coupled with alarming comments about Iran’s closeness to the bomb from “anonymous” IAEA officials presented a dire situation. ++ While the report seems to threaten Obama’s new policy of gradual engagement, the Western media should re-read the report without bias and focus on the parts which discuss Iran’s “mood for compromise” and the absence of “ongoing reprocessing activities.”

This article points to a tendency of many media, to screen documents in order to find some sentence that could attract attention. In the case of Iran: All bits of information that could feed suspicion are considered good news. Readers and watchers until read the full document
before they form an opinion.
