Obama Fails to Meet Expectations Set in Cairo

Jonathan Steele, The Guardian | August 11, 2010

President Obama's Cairo speech was intended to set a new tone in Arab-American relations. ++ A year later, the disappointment in the Arab world is tremendous: a recent poll of six Arab countries shows that only 16 percent of the Arab population remains hopeful about US policy. ++ Additionally, 57 percent of respondents believe a nuclear Iran would be a positive development. ++ The US media shares responsibility with Obama for the failed policy in the Middle East, giving the public only the Israeli perspective and failing to start a real debate.
