The US' "Reset" with Russia Is Not Enough
Claudia Rosett, Foundation for Defense of Democracies | July 10, 2009
President Obama's visit to Moscow must not be taken as a serious reset with Russia. ++ It "was a mix of visionary kitsch, caviar and feckless horse-trading." ++ Russian-American agreements made this week are short sighted. ++ Obama failed to show support to the Kremlin's opponents and understated US merits during the fight against Soviet communism. ++ His "packaging and marketing skills" detract from "a new form of authoritarianism" in the East. ++ The world needs America to act on this.
