Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan Ambitions For Energy Transportation

Transportation of energy resources was top of the agenda during a recent talk between the presidents of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, reports News Central Asia. Presidents Nazarbaev and Berdymuhamedov said their countries had reached an agreement on cooperation for transit and transportation of energy resources. Until now Kazakhstan’s energy exports have been dependant on the Russian transportation system.

It was agreed that oil and gas will now be shipped to China and to the Persian Gulf through Iran while current routes through Russia and the Trans-Caspian export continue to be used. The incorporation of new transportation routes will mean areas of economic activity in Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Russia will all be integrated bringing vast sums of money through the pipeline.
