US Demands Pakistani Action Against Extremists

Editorial, Times of India | May 15, 2009

President Zardari thinks the Taliban is a monster created by Pakistan's ISI and the CIA. ++ President Obama's policy on South Asia is very different from that of his predecessors. ++ His focus on Afghanistan and Pakistan demonstrates their importance on stabilizing the region. ++ US monetary support is also dependent on Pakistan taking action against extremists. ++ The new approach is a "combination of plain-speak, persuasion and politeness." ++ This could "help America recover its status as a global leader and win more friends."
