US Food Aid is Ineffective
For those who live in hunger, long-term solutions cannot come fast enough. ++ The US, donor of half of the world's food aid, is highly criticized for its unique practice of monetization that disrupts commercial markets and can cause, albeit temporarily, prices to abruptly plunge. ++ Furthermore, the US is the only country that does not fully accept the framework offered by the Food Aid Convention. ++ It is time that the US ends its damaging food aid procedures in order to achieve a better multilateral management of food donations.
