The Positive Side of Chinese Nationalism

The attitudes of the Chinese government and Chinese citizens are not identical. ++ The Olympics have inspired Chinese nationalism which will lead to increased civil engagement and awareness of the responsibilities and rights of citizenship. ++ National identity is no longer determined by the government. ++ The civic dimension of Chinese nationalism may check the authoritarian state in the future.
