"Europeanizing Europe"

Joschka Fischer, Germany's Former Foreign Minister | October 28, 2011

The EU's inherently weak internal structure is not suited to deal with the current financial crisis and threatens to bring an end to European integration. ++ A collapse of the monetary union would be a death sentence for the EU as a whole. ++ The EU must evolve from an organization based on common principle to an EU government with real political power. ++ Unless the Europeans act quickly to establish a fiscal union and move towards a common European state, Europe will be left behind as Asia continues to rise.
