"NATO and Russia Can Defend Together"
Anders Fogh Rasmussen, NATO Secretary General | December 7, 2011
Russia and NATO are similarly threatened by advanced missile technology, so it makes sense to work together. ++ Cooperation on missile defense would also “show once and for all that we can build security with each other, rather than against each other.” ++ To alleviate Russian concerns, NATO has offered to hold joint missile defense exercises in 2012 and establish joint centers for planning and sharing data on missile defense. ++ President Medvedev’s recent rhetoric is outdated; cooperative defense is the only real choice for the future.
