"Syria: Tired Slogans and a Looming Dawn"

Ramzy Baroud, PalestineChronicle.com | August 3, 2011

Syria's society has experienced a brutal crackdown on protestors and civilians over the past five months. ++ The state claims that the protesters’ goal is “to undermine Syrian leadership” in the Arab world; but Syria’s rigid stance against the US and Israel, which brought the state to the frontline of the Arab resistance, cannot justify the regime’s cruel suppression of its opposition. ++ The state abuses regional and national narratives to back its atrocities. ++ Meanwhile, Syrians have a right to live in a democratic, free and just society.
