Over 6 million travelers have been disrupted, and airlines are losing US$200 million a day from airports being closed as a result of Iceland’s volcanic eruption. ++ These losses have undermined airlines as they try to rebound from the recession. ++” Airlines have weathered the effects of recessions, terror attacks, wars and diseases such as SARS in the past and most will eventually get over a few days lost to volcanic activity.” ++ But if the volcano continues to erupt it will pose economic, health, and climate concerns across Europe.
