British Awakening

Editorial, Le Monde (In French) | May 31, 2010

For those about to despair of the British, there is hope: the new British government is recalling those Labor measures that led to “the paradox result” of limiting personal freedoms without “making any headway in the realm of security.” ++ “True to their traditions, their genetic material, Conservatives and Liberals want to push back the surveillance state.” ++ By contrast, French conservatives steadily keep imposing ever new more restrictions on citizens’ rights. ++ It is time to heed “the call of reason coming from London.”
