China Has a Plan B for North Korea

Editorial, Le Monde (in French) | December 1, 2010

The United States has become obsessed with trying to figure out the direction North Korea will take after the succession. ++ Chinese opinions on the subject are in demand. ++ Officially, China does all in its might to support North Korea as a buffer state between itself and US-supported South Korea. ++ But inside the Chinese regime, there now appears to be dissent. ++ In unofficial talks, the Chinese admit that they could live with a reunified Korea, as long as that country was not hostile to Beijing.
