Draft is Institutionalized Slavery in Russia
Boris Nemzov, Moskovskii Komsomolez (in Russian) | June 23, 2010
The Russian Army is fighting its record of abuse and lack of finances in vein. ++ The Army will not become professional, because there is no money to make professional service attractive. ++ “The present regime’s priority is… the secret services and oligarchs.” ++ In striking contrast to the Army, the various secret services managed “to increase their income tenfold.” ++ Faced with serious demographic decline, the Army would already have announced “an extension of the draft… were it not for the upcoming Duma and presidential elections.”
