Europe is no Longer a Role Model for the US

Joel Kotkin, Chapman University | June 17, 2009

Eventually, Europe and the US must be seen as two gravely different societies. ++ America shouldn't look up to the "bureaucratic powerhouse of the EU" as it was unable to cope with recent crises. ++ There is an essential link between the countries' different need for economic growth and strongly varying demographic expectancies. ++ In order to maintain living standards, "America's... emphasis needs to be on sustained growth" while Europe will be able to manage even with lower economic progress.
