India Should not Sacrifice for Climate Change

Kaurvaki Rao, The Times of India | July 21, 2009

India is not responsible for the current levels of greenhouse gas emissions and cannot be asked to sacrifice its development goals for the sake of combating climate change. ++ "Everyone is now burdened by the omissions and commissions and emissions of the rich countries...Yet the real culprits are unwilling to take responsibility for their actions." ++ If industrialized countries do not guarantee financial assistance and promise short-term emission reduction targets on their part, India should not commit itself to an emission cap.
