Islamist Parties Should Not Be Excluded

Marwan Muashar, former FM of Jordan | November 3, 2011

Fears over the rise to power of Islamist parties in post-revolutionary Arab countries are unfounded. ++ Islamic parties cannot afford to rule single-handedly and ignore the secular population. ++ Instead of building a religious theocracy, politicians from Islamist parties will be more preoccupied with providing jobs and improving the quality of life. ++ Rather than exclude or alienate the Islamist parties from the political process, the West should continue to promote the development of an open democratic system.

While I agree that most Islamic parties cannot afford to rule single-handedly, I do not think that we should lump all Arab countires into one basket. Each Arab country has its own challenges and its own parties. What will work with some countries (Egypt) will definitely not work with others (like Lebanon). I also agree that Islamist parties should not be excluded from the process because I think such a move will only add fuel to their fire.

Well .. Islam is a modern religion and if any party more specifically political party try to implement the true and original teachings and preaching.. the essence .. the soul of the teachings of Islam while ruling .. Should apply the real Islamic rules and regulations .. Then there should be nothing better then that political party .. that ruling party .. and that state or country.
Unfortunately the Islamic law we are following all around the world is not true and real so such Islamist parties should not be allowed to rule single evenhandedly because they implement extremism and fundamentalism rather then the modernism which is true Islam.
