Islamophobia in Europe Must Stop

Reports by the European Monitoring Centre on Racism, Xenophobia and the Runneymede Trust demonstrate that there is widespread Islamophobia in Europe. ++ Dominant views on the place of religion in society should be reconsidered and religion should acquire a legitimate place in the public sphere. ++ Islam should be recognized legally and not be considered a threat to European values. ++ Diversity within Islamic communities needs to be acknowledged. ++ To achieve this, closer dialogue is required in which the media have a crucial role to play.
