No "Special Relationship" Between UK and US

Hasan Suroor, The Hindu | April 2, 2010

The myth of Britain's "special relationship" with the US has finally been exposed. ++ Nowadays, the term conjures up images of a United Kingdom subservient to the wishes of Washington and is highly damaging to the reputation and interests of the UK. ++ The House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee has called for the UK to be more assertive and willing to say no to Washington. ++ The Obama administration, "is more keen on cultivating China and other emerging powers than collecting brownie points from a has-been colonial power."
