President Obama is "taking important steps to make the world safer and bolster this [America's] country's credibility as it tries to constrain the nuclear ambitions of Iran, North Korea and others." ++ Though the new policy prohibits use of nuclear weapons against non-nuclear powers, this assurance does not apply to countries that are not in compliance with the non-proliferation treaty (Iran, North Korea). ++ This loophole damages the argument that non-nuclear countries have no need to develop their own weapons.
