Canadian PM Stephen Harper has acted irresponsibly in his scramble to save his government from the challenge being mounted by the Left. ++ He mischaracterized the Liberal-New Democrat coalition as “a power sharing coalition with a separatist party” that had plans to break up the country. ++ This “divisive self-serving separatist bashing” has given fuel to Quebec nationalism. ++ The campaign of Quebec Premier Jean Charest, a staunch federalist who has had much success in fending off the separatist force, has thus been hobbled.
