Pakistan's New Leaders Fake Democracy

Fatima Bhutto, The Guardian | August 15, 2008

Sharif and Zardari, who lead the governing coalition, use President Musharraf's impeachment to portray themselves as representatives of democracy, but in truth, neither of them were elected. ++ They head the two most corrupt parties, have absolutely no mandate, and so far, the situation in Pakistan has gotten even worse under their management. ++ There are signs that militants are gaining power and civil war is likely to break out. ++ Pakistanis are a proud and free nation and surely have better alternatives.
