Power Must Not Put People Above the Law

Paul Krugman, The New York Times | January 16, 2009

Just as Clinton did several years ago, Obama has opted to exempt the Bush administration from investigation for the commitment of possible crimes. ++ This is a dangerous precedent; it not only places people holding power above the law, but also and more importantly, it guarantees that abuses of power will be repeated in the future since parties will not be held accountable. ++ The question that rises is, in the name of law "shouldn't there be some penalty for the Bush administration's politicization of every aspect of government?"
