Russia: no Need for 'Star Wars'

Dmitry Rogozin, Russia's Ambassador to NATO | June 8, 2011

Drawing from the results of Lisbon summit, Russia’s cooperation with NATO on missile defense has to be based on equal participation and common pan-European security. ++ This initiative is perceived by the Kremlin as a step towards strategic partnership with NATO. ++ To avoid mutual suspicions, European missile defense should be deployed in the southern part of the continent. ++ Euro-Atlantic security depends on whether NATO offered Russia a ‘lasting friendship’ or a new ‘global US ballistic missile defense’.
