Storm in a Teacup: Iran Will Remain a Theocracy

Syed Qamar Hasan, The National (United Arab Emirates) | June 18, 2010

The protests following last year’s election in Iran did not constitute a popular uprising. ++ They “were no more than a storm in a tea cup that were projected by biased Western media reports.” ++ The demonstrators “never had the support of the groups and parties that matter in Iranian politics,” such as Bazaar merchants and students. ++ "For the 90 million people of Iran today, there is no other option than to live with the Ayatollahs.” ++ The opposition party "would not have delivered the goods... promised" either.
