The Clash of Capitalisms

John Thornhill, The Financial Times | July 25, 2008

The ascendancy of Anglo-American capitalism has been an illusion - as proven by the credit crisis which originated in the US. ++ Apart from this model, there are different forms of state capitalism developing in China, Russia, the Middle East, and South America. ++ In principle, the existence of different forms of capitalism is healthy, but the attempt of each capitalism to assert its own superiority in a globalized world can cause a clash of capitalisms. ++ The European model could offer a solution to future challenges.
