The Troubling Role of Europe in Rendition

Amnesty International | June 26, 2008

European States have been quick to criticize America's practices but have themselves played a role in many renditions and secret detentions. ++ European airports and airspace have repeatedly been used by CIA flights headed for rendition curcuits. ++ In addition, several secret detention centers are located throughout Europe. ++ EU governments have been in denial of their involvement for too long. ++ They must end renditions and secret detention and work to "ensure reparations for the victims and bring those responsible to justice."
