The West Must Hold Its Nerve and Stay in Afghanistan

From the outside it may appear that the situation in Afghanistan is continuing to worsen. ++ US commanders are confident that they can shift the momentum in their favor. ++ This would be a result of increased resources.++There are still concerns that Western governments "will give up on the war before the counterinsurgency strategy can pay off."++Time and effort is needed to sufficiently resource the Afghan army before it can defend its own country.++Strategic patience is required; otherwise the sacrifices already made will have been in vain.
