Editorial, The Jerusalem Post | June 3, 2010
Israel-Turkey relations suffered greatly on Monday, with Prime Minister Erdogan calling the Israeli attack on an aid flotilla a “bloody massacre” and warning that “today is a turning point, nothing will be the same again.” ++ As a western-aligned democratic power, Turkey could do a great deal to bring about peace and stabilization in the region, however these comments clearly reflect a broader trend. ++ Turkey is gradually moving away from the western democracies and instead aligning with Russia, Iran, and Brazil.
