Weak Obama is UN Favourite

Nile Gardiner, Heritage Foundation | September 24, 2009

Although increasingly unpopular at home he is highly thought of internationally with 93% approval in Germany and 77% in India. ++ The concessions made to insure these favourable views ahead of yesterday’s speech at the UN is costing him. ++ The lack of legislative power is further leading to compromise internationally through “his appeasement of Iran, bullying of Israel, and surrender to Moscow.” ++ “The Obama administration is now overseeing and implementing the biggest decline in American global power since Jimmy Carter.”

It is perhaps useful that the Atlantic Community should alert its members to articles such as that written in the British Daily Telegraph by one Nile Gardiner. Besides being a prominent member of the ultra right-wing heritage foundation, he is the director of The Margaret Thacher Centre for Freedom. This organisation states as its objectives -
The Thatcher Center will focus on how the United States and Great Britain can lead and
change the world

The Center will help nurture a global network of conservative thinkers committed to the
transatlantic alliance and the cause of freedom across the world

Shaping U.S.-British Policy Toward Rogue States

In other words, destroy the unity of Europe at all costs and re-establish the hegemony enjoyed by the Thacher - Reagan view of human rights and the absolute right of superior power of weaponry. Both the Heritage Foundation and the Thacher Centre are advocates of war as the best means of convincing another of their point of view and spend much time, effort and money on ensuring that their erstwhile position is not diluted by a strong Europe with alternative approaches to global issues.
