Term Paper: Climatic Factors Are Making Poverty Worse for Poor Countries

Nikolina-Romana Milunovic: One reason why many least developed countries are locked in poverty is climate. Combined with other factors, climatic factors are resulting in a dramatic global injustice which is presently being ignored.

At a time when global economic competition is increasing and industrial societies are evolving to knowledge societies, the gap between the world's rich and poor countries seems to be expanding dramatically. Therefore, questioning the continued existence of a class-based society is more pressing than ever.

In order to answer this question, this term paper on global inequality focuses on climate as the most neglected factor in the underdevelopment of Sub-Saharan countries.

In order to fully grasp the different stages of development, the reasons for and the consequences of underdevelopment must be analysed. Therefore, this paper looks at the geographical conditions of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi as well as the repercussions of climatic factors on agriculture and the people living in these regions.

While the paper is trying to establish a basic understanding and a general consideration of the consequences of climatic factors on the underdevelopment of many African countries, it is not attempting to claim that climate is the only cause for the disastrous condition of many African states.

In pointing out another factor leading to the grave injustice forcing least developed countries to remain in a vicious circle of poverty, this term paper aims at stressing the urgency of increasing and improving development aid for the world's poorest countries.
