7th Inter-University Summer School: The European Decision Making Process
When?
5 - 16 July 2010
What?
Have you ever wondered just how decisions are made in the European Union? With its complex procedures, its many committees, working groups and institutions, just who makes the decisions in the EU? How do ideas turn into policies and law in the European Union?
From Monday 5 to Friday 16 July 2010, you can participate in two weeks of intensive study on the European Decision-Making Process. This summer school, organized jointly by the Institute for European Studies and the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, provides students who have a background in international politics, European law or similar the opportunity to study in the heart of Europe, in Brussels, with a further week-long workshop scheduled in Vienna.
The Summer School combines lectures with seminars, study visits and a simulation exercise. Study visits will take place to the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European Council and the Belgian Parliament. In each institution, experts will give further insight of the role of its organisation in the overall European decision-making process.
Information
Further information and registration is available at the Institute for European Studies (IES) (the number of participants to the Summer School is limited and applications need to arrive no later than 15 April 2010).
