First International Conference on Local Government, 18-19 November 2010

The International Conference on Local Government (ICLG), organized by Khon Kaen University’s College of Local Administration, is the first global forum in Thailand for the presentation of administration innovations and research findings in the fields of public administration and policy, local development, and good governance.

The conference seeks a broad perspective on the issues of local government by assembling leading scholars, researchers, and practitioners from around the globe to share and expand current knowledge.

The International Conference on Local Government will take place in Khon Kaen, Thailand on November 18 and 19, 2010.

Over the span of two days the conference will address the following themes associated with making the work of local government organizations more effective:

* Principles and Practices of Good Governance at the Local Level.

* Innovations in Revenue-Raising to Finance Local Public Services.

* Sustaining, Protecting and Enhancing Local Wisdom, Culture and Environment.

* Identifying and Addressing Issues Concerning Aging and Gender in Local Communities.

* The Uses of Technology for Local Policy-making, Implementation, and Evaluation.

* Empowering and Educating Local People for Active Participation.

* Networking for International Information Sharing and Assistance.
