Policy Summit: "Defining Europe's Energy Strategy: The Long-Term View"

WHAT, WHERE & WHEN: A high-level European Policy Summit entitled “Defining Europe’s Energy Strategy: The Long-Term View”, organised by Friends of Europe with media partner Europe’s World. The summit will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 9.00 to 16.00 at the Cercle Royal Gaulois (5 rue de la Loi), Brussels.
UNDER DISCUSSION: This event comes at a key moment, just weeks before the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) conference in Poznań, Poland, at the start of December, while the European Commission’s energy and climate change package is under intense discussion. Questions being addressed at the conference will include:
- ARE THE EU’S CLIMATE CHANGE POLICIES CONVINCING ITS PARTNERS WORLDWIDE?
- WHAT MEASURES WOULD STILL BE ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL SUICIDE?
- WHAT DO WE MEAN BY “SUSTAINABLE”?
