The G8 and G20 Youth Summit
The theme of the G8 and G20 Youth Summits in Vancouver is “Global Transitions.” The year 2010 marks the aftermath of the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, the beginnings of a new climate change framework, and a new hope that humanity may get it right in our policies toward the future. The objective of our Summit in Vancouver is to provide a forum of dialogue for the youth leaders of today.
What We Are Trying to Achieve:
A Communiqué Derived from Consensus
The goal of our participants is to negotiate a final policy paper, called a Communiqué, addressing the various areas of global polity. The Communiqué is negotiated through practice of consensus, tolerance, and dialogue. The final Communiqué document will serve as a reminder of the common values shared by youth leaders. As well, it will be sent, as a policy framework, to sitting world leaders.
How You Can Be Involved:
The final Communiqué is composed of different ministerial agendas described below.
The agenda below is tentative and will change as events change in the real world. Selected delegates are welcome to bring up alternative agenda items according to their expertise and interpretation of world events.
Interested applicants must apply to specific agenda(s) of interest. Applicants should list out the agendas of three ministerial portfolios in order of preference. For more information on application procedures, please click here.
