International Peace in Washington, D.C., will
host a discussion on the future of relations between the United States and Iraq.
Nearly a year after Iraqi
voters went to the polls for a tightly contested parliamentary election, a new
government has finally been
formed in Baghdad.
Michael Corbin, deputy assistant secretary of state
for Iraq, will analyze
recent developments on the ground and discuss the
transition’s impact on diplomatic relations between the United States
and Iraq.
Colin Kahl, deputy assistant secretary of defense for the
Middle East, will discuss the transition’s impact on the U.S. military
and what it means for the drawdown of U.S. forces. Marina Ottaway will
moderate.
