Obama Is G-8's Great White Hope

Expectations are low for the next G-8 meeting, due to “inexcusably lax planning by the host government, Italy, and the political weakness of many of the leaders attending.” ++ If this session is going to justify the time and effort, President Obama will have to lead the way. ++ He did not press hard at the last summit for the sake of international unity, but now he must remind the group of their common interests on economic recovery, Iran, foreign aid, and climate change and lead them towards decisive solutions.
