'Building a New East West Consensus on Weapons of Mass Destruction’ Project Manager

Founded in 1980, the EastWest Institute is an international, nonpartisan, non-profit organization that works to make the world a safer place by addressing problems that threaten regional and global stability. EWI has centers in Brussels, New York and Moscow, and field staff in Central and Southeastern Europe.

There is a new window of opportunity to address the threats posed by WMD proliferation. Sentiment in the United States, China and Russia in favor of more determined action and new measures is growing. The urgency remains: threat of terrorists’ use of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), destabilized confidence in nuclear weapons control, and deep flaws in the structure of global regimes designed to control access to WMD. Yet there is still sharp disagreement among the major players in addressing the potential threats. EWI project will help to build consensus and bridge the gap between the major players through developing innovative approaches to break the deadlocks.

The Fellow and Project Manager will be responsible for intellectual leadership of the project and its overall management. S/he will work in close cooperation with the Vice President for Programs and the Vice President for Policy Innovation, and will cooperate internally to promote synergy among EWI programs and projects.
