Job description - Research Associate
Location:
Remote, with regular meetings in London if possible
Purpose:
Support CIN’s mission to provide rigorous and innovative analysis on political, economic and security affairs of the Caspian regions. The first phase will involve assisting with the formal launch of CIN’s activities.
About the Caspian Intelligence Network (CIN):
CIN is a new, soon-to-be-launched platform dedicated to providing rigorous, innovative analysis of the Caspian region - Russia, Turkey, Iran, the Caucasus and Central Asia. CIN’s objective is to contribute to academic, business and policy debates on the Caspian region, by providing new and alternative assessments of the security, political, economic and social situations.

Roles & responsibilities:
- Assist with the launch of CIN’s website and full activities
- Analyse and report on regional affairs by means of 2 short analyses per week
- Conduct in-depth research on key issues for extensive policy briefs
- Assist in editing CIN’s products
- Monitor relevant international debates on the Caspian region which can be drawn on for policy briefs, analyses and blog postings
- Assist in building and maintaining the contact network
- Assist in outreach activities.
Person specification:
- Postgraduate or student in international relations/politics or a related field
- Fluency in written and spoken English; regional languages are an asset
- Rigorous analytical and research skills
- Good writing skills
- Positive problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently
- A good overview of the Caspian region is an asset but not required
Terms & conditions:
- Payment: unpaid
- Length of position: ongoing
- Hours: Very flexible. The more you invest, the more you will get out. Minimum 8 hours per week, conducted virtually (with meetings in London where possible).
