CSSP Mediation Project Manager for the Western Balkans
CSSP is hiring a Mediation Project Manager for the Western Balkans. We are a non-profit organization assisting local leaders in post-conflict areas to find local solutions to local problems. Working with our own methodology of Integrative Mediation, we focus mainly on the Western Balkan region and improving inter-community dialogue. Our organization was founded in 2005 and our projects focus on community mediation, problem-solving workshops, research, advocacy, and consultancy. Our offices are located in Berlin, Germany and we travel to the target regions on a frequent basis for the implementation of the projects.
We are seeking a person for the following activities:
- Design and implement mediation processes at the local level in the Western Balkans based on CSSP’ methodology of Integrative Mediation
- Conduct mediations and trainings on conflict management skills within the project’s scope
- Identify potential partners and maintain relations with existing partners
- Write analytical and strategic reports on mediation activities and intercommunity mechanisms
- Conduct project management, planning, and budgeting as applicable
- Develop and maintain relations with international organizations in the target region
- Maintain, compile, and develop the website, newsletter, and other public materials
We are seeking the following skills in the candidate:
- Able to mediate and co-mediate
- Able to train and co-train in conflict management skills
- Skilled at active listening, trust-building, and confidence-building with conflicting parties
- Skilled at working on inter-community dialogue
- Excellent knowledge of the conflicts in the Western Balkan region
- Able to assess critically and methodologically conflict situations
- Positive thinking, outgoing, flexible, and able to work both alone and in teams
The following are minimum requirements for applying:
- Degree in conflict resolution or political science
- Mediation training
- Three to five years mediation related experience
- Fluent written and spoken English, (at least basic) German
- Flexibility to travel frequently and to work weekends
- Ability to work in Germany (EU citizenship or work permit)
- Interest to be based in Berlin
The following skills/conditions are considered advantageous:
- Bilingual German - English
- Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian, Albanian or Macedonian language skills
- Knowledge of international field mission work
