Development Assistant Aspen Institute Berlin


Aspen Berlin is a non-partisan, privately-supported organization dedicated to values-based leadership in addressing the toughest policy challenges of the day. A significant part of Aspen’s current work is devoted to promoting dialogue between key stakeholders on the most important strategic issues and to building lasting ties and constructive exchanges between leaders in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Aspen achieves this by bringing together interdisciplinary groups of decision makers and experts from business, academia, politics, and the arts that might otherwise not meet or are even hostile to another. They are convened in small-scale conferences, seminars, and discussion groups to consider complex issues in depth, in the spirit of neutrality and open-mindedness needed for a genuine search for common ground and viable solutions.

For our development team we are currently looking for a Development Assistant.

Responsibilities:

Administrative support of the institute’s fundraising efforts Providing background research materials on organizations / individuals Maintaining Aspen’s fundraising database and ensuring follow-up Administrative support for the Friends of Aspen Berlin Administrative support to the Development Officer, and some support also for the Director of Programs.

Qualifications:

At least 2 years work experience, including experience in an English-speaking country Excellent IT Skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Excellent communication skills. Ability to work precisely, under time pressure and at own initiative Native German or fluency in German, written and spoken. Fluency in English, written and spoken. Knowledge of German-U.S. relations. Desirable: Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge.


The position is part of the development team, which includes a Development Officer and 2 support staff under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. The position is located in Berlin. Aspen actively seeks diversity in the workplace.
