Program Assistant at the Atlantic Treaty Association

The Atlantic Treaty Association is offering one full time paid internship position starting on March 1st 2012 .

Position Open: The Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) Headquarter in Brussels offers one full time internship position starting on 1 March 2012 . The Internship position isoffered for a renewable six months period. The full time intern will receive a lump sum of € 600 per month and will be reimbursed for the travel expenses on taking up duty and on leaving the service.

Presentation of the ATA: The Atlantic Treaty Association is an international non-governmental organization based in Brussels working to facilitate global networks and the sharing of knowledge on transatlantic cooperation and security. By convening political, diplomatic and military leaders with academics, media representatives and young professionals, the ATA  promotes the values set forth in the North Atlantic Treaty: Democracy, Freedom, Liberty, Peace, Security and Rule of Law. The ATA membership extends to 40 countries from North America to the Caucasus throughout Europe. In 1996 the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association was created to specifially include to the successor generation in our work.

Tasks: Intern will be requested to:

- Monitor the debate on international security issues and write reports for ATA members;
- Assist in the preparation of the Annual Council Meeting (June);
- Co-organize conferences, seminars, meetings and roundtable in Brussels;
- Support the activities of the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association and its Board.

Requirements: A strong interest in international affairs is appropriate. Candidates shall be students, graduates or post graduates in Political Science, International Relations, Global Studies or Economics.  Experience in writing and editing is preferred. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory; French and other language skills are welcome, but not required. Candidates from non EU/Schengen countries will be assisted in their visa procedures.
