Clingendael Diplomatic Studies Programme (CDSP) at The Netherlands Institute of International Relations will have the following vacancy:
Research Fellow (m/f)
36 hours per week (fulltime)
Qualifications and experience
* Broad interest in international relations, familiar with relevant research theories and methodologies.
* Specialization in one of the following fields: a) UN and global governance; b) US foreign policy; c) Asia's rise in international relations.
* Experience in independent and project-based research. Publications in English and/or Dutch that demonstrate research excellence.
* Doctoral degree with a preference for political science/IR or a comparable discipline and qualification.
* Clearly outlined research agenda, familiar with policy-related research and project coordination.
* Relevant national and international networks.
* Excellent proficiency in English both oral and written, thorough knowledge of a second language would be an asset.
* Practical attitude, familiarity with administrative duties and experience with fundraising.
* Excellent teaching skills.
Function description
* Conducts scholarly research and publishes in the above-mentioned fields.
* Cooperates within his/her own field of expertise with CDSP research projects and organises seminars and conferences.
* Maintains national and international contacts within the framework of the candidate's own expertise.
* Will be available for special projects, editorial work, holding lectures and presentations, answering questions, in particular from the press, and for other activities in the Institute's work (maximum 30 per cent).
Conditions of employment
Wages are subject to the Dutch Bezoldigingsbesluit Rijksambtenaren (maximum scale 12, depending on qualifications and experience). The appointment will be a temporary contract of twelve months with possible extension.
