Resident Scholar at the Carnegie Middle East Center in Beirut

 

The Carnegie Middle East Center in Beirut seeks an energetic, self-directed scholar to contribute to its ongoing program of research on political and social issues. Applicants must have a Ph.D., at least five years of research experience and a proven track record of policy-oriented publications related to the Middle East. They also must have native level fluency in Arabic, knowledge of English, and must be able to write well in at least one of the two languages. Researchers must reside in Beirut.

The scholar is expected to develop his or her own research agenda in cooperation with the Center director and other researchers in Beirut and Washington to ensure complementarity of research.

Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with the applicant’s research and employment history. The Carnegie Middle East Center is part of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, which has offices in Moscow, Beijing, Brussels and Beirut in addition to its main center in Washington DC.
