(IN)Stability of Political and Economic Systems in a European Context
This conference is devoted to the study of (in)stability of political and economic systems in a European context against the background of the financial, economic and debt crisis. While certain disciplines (such as law, economics, political science and history) have developed a sound understanding for preconditions of stability, the isolated disciplinary approaches is striking. The stability of a political system, however, is related to economic stability and the stability of the legal system. Against this background this conference follows an innovative way: "Stability" and "Instability" are understood as phenomena that can only be explained satisfactorily by interdisciplinary approaches.
We encourage young researchers (advanced PhD students and postdocs alike) from law, economics, political science and history to submit contributions which are related to the overall topic. For example, contributions might cover:
* Defining characteristics of "stability", preconditions and threats
* European stability in a historical perspective
* Hazards to the constitutional order and the stability of legal systems
* The link between EU and national stability
* European (multi-level) governance in the crisis
* European financial architecture and regulation after the crisis
* The link between economic and political stability
* Stability preferences and risk aversion across the European population
* Stability and cohesion within the euro zone
* Active stabilization versus stability through institutional adjustments
* European coordination in situations of crisis
* Agenda 2020 and the post-crisis strategy.
