7th Pan-European Conference, Standing Group on International Relations (SGIR),

September 9-11 2010, Stockholm, Sweden

European Foreign Policy in transition: New IR/EI approaches to EU foreign policy

This section explores the newest theoretical developments in the field of EU Foreign Policy. In particular, it discusses whether the scholarly work has to concentrate on the new complexity of EU Foreign Policy by providing more
suitable theoretical approaches, rather than considering structural changes along different polarity types of international politics.

The section convenors are seeking either individual papers or full panel proposals for a number of related topics:

  • Institutional developments and analytical complexity in EFP/CFSP
  • EFP/CFSP in a multipolar world: new analytical/conceptual/theoretical frameworks
  • Changes of focus in understanding the EFP/CFSP
  • EFP/CFSP demand and responsibilities in a multipolar world
  • Constitutionalisation of the EFP/CFSP
  • EFP/CFSP vis-à-vis other powerful actors (for instance NATO)

Send an abstract (max. 200 words) including name, affiliation and contact details to both section convenors. The deadline for paper/panel proposal is 15
March.
