Environmental, Energy and Climate Change Politics and Policies: Graduate Conference, Free University Berlin

The Conference will be held 12-13 February 2010

The Environmental Policy Research Centre (Forschungsstelle für Umweltpolitik – FFU) of the Free University Berlin announces its second annual Graduate Workshop. The Workshop will address questions related to climate and energy policy as well as international environmental governance in general. The FFU Graduate Workshop is an opportunity for PhD candidates researching topics related to environmental policy to present their work to other students in their respective fields of interest.

FFU Graduate Workshop Format
Sessions will consist of four paper presentations each. Papers will be made available online during the first week of February. The format necessitates for participants to read the papers presented in the panel(s) which they attend beforehand. Each paper will be introduced briefly by a prior appointed discussant. This is intended to kick off an approximately half hour in-depth discussion of the paper, involving every participant in the panel. The last comment is granted to the author for a short response. This will allow for critical and constructive feedback on ongoing research. Furthermore, the Workshop will provide an informal setting for graduate students working in the domain of environmental policy to get acquainted.

Submission Process
All graduate students currently engaged in research on a topic related to the workshop’s themes are invited to submit a paper proposal. To submit a proposal, please send an abstract of the paper you wish to present and full contact information to s.schaefer@fu-berlin.de before 17 January 2010. You will be notified regarding the acceptance of your proposal by 24 January 2010. Please be prepared to submit a complete version of your paper by 31 January 2010 at the latest.
