European Identity Beyond the Brink
CALL FOR PAPERS : ‘European Identity beyond the brink’
Volume 3, Summer 2012
We invite young academics and researchers to submit their contributions for the upcoming issue of Open Citizenship.
Open Citizenship is a hybrid journal combining engaging articles from academics, journalists, the civil society, and politics to explore the scope and complexity of identity and citizenship within the European Union. The upcoming summer issue focuses on the state of identity and citizenship building in the European Union and investigates, among other topics, the current crisis’ impact on the creation of a closer union of citizens.
Suggested themes for submissions are:
- The economic crisis and the building of a European community of citizens.
- Far right movements - sustaining the renationalisation of identity, politics and culture?
- Third-Country Nationals - outsiders inside, conflicts and cohesion in identity and citizenship building.
- Diaspora communities and there role in local and national politics.
- Active political participation as a motor for identity building at local to European level.
- Europeans - a concept beyond the borders of the EU?
