European Values Network 2010: Towards a Safer Europe


International programme for young European scholars and professionals, who aspire to contribute to the public debate by proposing recommendations addressing the threats that Europe is facing today.

Join the EVN and become a part of a dynamic network of young policy experts ready to shape Europe for the future!

Eight working groups will over the course of the programme period prepare and present policy papers addressing the following threats to Europe’ s freedom, prosperity and global relevance:

1. Disengagement and disinterest in democratic politics

2. Demographic decline and its implication for society

3. Violent radicalisation and terrorism

4. Declining competitiveness of Europe’ s economy

5. The EU’ s growing energy dependency from unreliable suppliers

6. Climate change

7. Armed conflicts in Europe’ s greater neighbourhood

8. Nuclear proliferation

The programme takes place from January until June (2010) and consists of meetings in Brussels, a conference in Prague, discussions with top EU decision-makers and policy experts, internet-based research teamwork, and eventual publication of policy papers.

The EVN 2010 programme is administrated by the European Values association. It is co-financed by the European Union within the programme “Europe for Citizens” and supported by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
