UACES: Exchanging Ideas on Europe

The 2010 UACES “Exchanging Ideas On Europe” conference will take place at the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium on 6-8 September 2010.

UACES would like to invite ‘Pre-organised Panel Proposals’ on any European studies related topic OR for ‘Individual Paper Proposals’ on any European studies related topic.

Our preference is always for ‘Pre-organised Panel Proposals’, however, ‘Individual Paper Proposals’ are still welcome and will be considered. If the conference is heavily subscribed, a Panel Proposal is more likely to be accepted.

We encourage contributions from all academic disciplines, including law, economics, geography, history, sociology, public policy and politics. We also encourage papers from established academics, practitioners and well-prepared doctoral students.

Panel Proposals should be submitted by the person organising the panel using the online Panel Proposal form. The Panel Organiser should collect all the required information on behalf of the paper-givers. Paper-givers on pre-organised panels do not need to submit anything directly to UACES.

If you are organising a panel, please do make the paper-givers aware that there are registration fees to attend the conference before including their papers in your panel proposal.

If you are not part of a Pre-organised Panel, you should submit your Individual Paper Proposal directly to UACES using the online Paper Proposal form.

As part of the proposal, you will be asked to include an abstract (up to 200 words) which should contain a clear summary of your arguments. If your Paper Proposal is accepted, the abstract will appear on this website.

For papers with more than one author, the paper proposal should be submitted by the person who is planning to present the paper at the conference. Your co-author(s) will be recognised on the conference programme, but for the purpose of processing the paper proposals, we only need one submission.

The deadline for submission of proposals is Friday 22 January 2010.

All proposals will be assessed by a selection committee. Individual Paper Proposals which are accepted will be allocated to a Panel.

Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by Friday 19 March 2010.
